Mayor Rick Blangiardi honored the remarkable contributions of Black Americans to Hawaii's and the United States' history and culture by issuing a proclamation designating February as Black History Month in Honolulu.
Children's author and UH professor Maya Soetoro-Ng, who is also the sister of Barack Obama, the 44th President of the United States, delighted the community at the Obama Hawaiian Africana Museum with a book signing for her new book, "The First Day of Peace."
